My Background

My Inspiration

My Background

I have enjoyed creating art since childhood. I began painting in high school where I discovered oil paint. Besides a few general art classes along the way, I am a self-taught painter. I paint what I see. My favorite themes are landscapes, florals and nature. I am currently experiencing great satisfaction in painting water.

My Background

Early on I was a traditional painter. Oil on canvas using brushes. My style truly took off when I discovered impasto painting, that is, creating a painting using only a palette knife. Applying thick layers of paint to the canvas. (I also confess that I hate cleaning brushes!)

Using a palette knife allows me to paint in texture as well as color replicating those elements found in nature.

My Inspiration

My inspiration comes from the Masters, specifically Van Gogh and Monet with a smattering of Manet. I believe my paintings can be described best as impressionistic.

I was asked recently about what keeps me going. When I paint, the work draws me in. I can feel the tranquility of the nature that I paint.
